About GoVolunteer

Volunteer coordination deserves better tools

The organizations that depend on volunteers most — schools, sports associations, and community groups — are too often stuck choosing between spreadsheets that don't scale and generic volunteer apps that weren't built with their needs in mind.

GoVolunteer was built specifically for them.

Our story

GoVolunteer started with a familiar problem: a volunteer coordinator at a minor hockey association tracking hundreds of families across seasons, teams, and tournaments using a tangle of spreadsheets. Every event meant re-copying rosters, chasing people over email and text, and manually tallying who had — and hadn't — put in their hours. Mistakes were easy to make and hard to catch, and there was no single place to see the full picture.

Some organizations have tried generic volunteer apps, but most fall short for non-profits and community groups. They handle simple sign-ups well enough, but lack the structure needed for season-long management: tracking family compliance across dozens of shifts, managing priority signup windows by team, importing game schedules, or producing the kind of reporting a board or funder actually needs. The result is organizations that outgrow these tools quickly and end up back where they started.

We built GoVolunteer to be that single place: a shared system where seasons, events, shifts, families, and hours all live together, so coordinators can spend less time on data entry and more time on the work that actually needs a human.

Who it's for

GoVolunteer is built for any organization that relies on volunteers to run seasons, events, or programs — and needs a fair, transparent way to track who's contributing.

Schools & PTAs

Coordinate parent volunteers across fundraisers, field trips, and school events without losing track of who's signed up for what.

Sports Leagues & Associations

Manage timekeepers, scorekeepers, and tournament-day roles across teams, rinks, and game schedules — with priority signup windows built in.

Community & Non-Profit Groups

Track volunteer hours and shift compliance across programs and events, with reporting your board or funders can actually use.

What we believe

Volunteers give their time freely, and the least an organization can do is respect that time with clear expectations, fair scheduling, and an easy way to see their own contribution. Coordinators deserve the same respect — tools that remove busywork instead of adding to it. That's the standard we hold GoVolunteer to.
